Nowadays, social bookmarking plays a vital role in online marketing as well as in driving relevant traffic to your website. As business owners and online marketers, you can probably enumerate some of the famous social bookmarking sites, but do you really know how they work?
Social bookmarking is an online system provided for online users who wish to save, manage and share links of their selected web pages with the use of metadata or tags. It is a means of storing bookmarks of your favorite sites to another website, tagging them with appropriate keywords based on their content, and sharing them with other people who may also find them interesting. It is a known fact that social bookmarking sites allow people to share web pages with their network. Web site owners mostly measure their success by the traffic that their site is able to lure. This is because the larger the number of people visits a site, the higher the ranking their web pages can get from search engines. Given its current popularity, many online marketers are trying their best to find ways to further enhance web promotion through social bookmarking sites.
The whole idea of social bookmarking is sharing with others something interesting found online. If you find your own site’s content to be worthy of attention by others, there is nothing immoral or immodest to include your web pages in your bookmarks. But make doubly sure that the content is absolutely unique. If your pages bear a resemblance to other websites in the same category, then the social bookmarking site might refuse your pages becoming part of your bookmarks. Ever since people first began browsing the Internet, they came across websites that they wanted to keep track of. The easiest way for them to be able to do this was to bookmark the webpages so that they were easily accessible within their web browser. Since that time, however, things have really changed and now people access the Internet through a variety of different methods. Not only do they access it through their computer at home, they also access it at work and at times, even whenever they are on the road. This can make it very difficult for them to find what they are looking for, particularly if they leave their bookmarks at home. This problem has been overcome, however, through the use of social bookmarking, a process in which people store their bookmarks online instead of keeping them on their computer. I have an affiliate website that I have spent alot of money on and after 1 year I still only have 100 visitors a day. I blog and social bookmark everyday and have submitted the site to countless directories. I have read that search engines hate affiliate websites, but there are still alot of people that make good money off of them. What else can I do without spending a bunch of money to drive traffic to the site. I have also written articles, tried ppc campaigns( which is costly and I do good to break even on), and blog and social bookmark everyday. Please help me save my site.

Most of us trying to optimize our sites for search engine traffic know one of the single most important ways to get our sites listed higher on search engines is through obtaining incoming links.
